Homeless Intervention Program (HIP)

The Homeless Intervention Program (HIP) operates as a safety net for individuals and families threatened by possible eviction or foreclosure on their homes. Assistance is also available to individuals residing in shelters and other temporary housing who wish to obtain permanent housing. HIP dollars are available through a grant from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development.

"Joe" was referred to the CCC HIP Program after being unemployed for an extended period of time and had depleted his financial reserves. He was working evenings at a low paying job, but was not earning enough income to cover his mortgage payments and was facing foreclosure on his home. HIP assistance provided a loan as well as counseling to help Joe in the search for new employment. "Through your encouragement and structured approach, I applied for a position and landed the job that I have been in now for almost a year," said Joe.
